Custom Seat Services Division
The Cornerstone of
Sargent Cycle Products |
Sargent
Cycle Products entered the motorcycle aftermarket industry in 1989 with their Custom Seat
Services division. Backed by more than 60 years of upholstery experience, Sargent is proud
to be recognized as an industry leader in reupholstering, reconditioning, restyling, and
foam alteration services for new and older bikes alike.
|
| Basic
Reupholstering and Reconditioning |
Our
Custom Seat Services Division can reupholster and recondition virtually any motorcycle or
ATV seat. Basic reupholstering and reconditioning is the most economical way to breathe
new life into an old, worn-out seat. We have standard patterns to fit most seats, and you
have your choice of CarbonFX® vinyl, pleated vinyl, smooth vinyl, or
button-fit styles.
|
|
How It's Done.
 |
First,
each motorcycle seat is examined for foam deficiencies and repaired as needed. The
original foam is then steamed for expansion.
Next, a fresh layer of low-density foam is bonded over the original foam and a new
moisture barrier is added. Metal pan seats have a new rubber EDGEGUARDTM installed, if needed. |
 |
Custom-made
upholstery is then steam-fitted to your seat. On plastic-pan seats, the upholstery is
secured with galvanized staples, and the original prongs or aluminum rivets are used on
metal pan seats.
The result is the best upholstery you can buy -- installed right, and ready for years of
uncompromising service.

| Custom Colors and Upholstery Styling |
Color
can add a new dimension to your bike. With the vast number of colors and combinations
available, the possibilities are endless and the choice is yours. For more details, please
review our UPHOLSTERY
STYLING GUIDE and SEAT COVER INSERT CHOICES.
To get a sense of different upholstery styling options, check out this PHOTO COLLECTION from our brochure.
Finally, you are
also invited to visit our STYLING OPTIONS guide
for sport and sport touring bikes - it might give you some ideas...
Trying to match an older or obscure motorcycle paint color?
A local printing shop can help you if they have the PANTONE Color Formula
Guide. Simply match your paint (in natural sunlight) using the
"coated" color swatches and let us know the color code. From there, we can
make a vinyl color recommendation.

Foam
Alterations
and Upgrades

|
For
the truly adventurous, foam alterations can be a great way to customize your motorcycle or
help minimize a comfort issue. Our expert foam technicians are ready to help you.
 |
|
Please
review our FOAM ALTERATION GUIDE for more details,
helpful hints, and basic prices. A rendering or template is most helpful in illustrating
foam shape changes.
|
IMPORTANT
Your Seat's Level Line. |
In
most cases, to improved the overall foam shape of a motocycle seat, changing the angle of
the RIDING PLATFORM is usually necessary.
Please review information about how to make a LEVEL LINE
on your seat before sending it to Sargent. |

| The Road To Comfort |
When
it comes to long-distance comfort, there are many variables that play a role. Sometimes,
to achieve comfort, it's more than just a seat adjustment. We invite you to consider THE ROAD TO COMFORT
when making any kind of
purchasing decision.

| Looking for an extra seat pan and foam? |
In
some cases, folks may not want to send their stock seat to us for Custom Services, so a
used seat in decent condition might be in order. We might suggest that you contact a
motorcycle salvage yard for an economical alternative or an on-line forum for resellers of
used parts.
The condition of the upholstery cover is not critical. The foam and pan should be in
"recognizable" condition:
Foam - Unmodified; needed repair is acceptable.
Plastic Seat Pans - Unbroken with parts intact.
Metal Seat Pans - Moderate rust is repairable.
Rather than have the item drop-shipped to us, please have it sent to you first to verify
that it fits your motorcycle properly before investing in custom seat work.
